Network Marketing Opportunities That Work

Network Marketing Opportunities That Work

Network marketing opportunities that work not only exist, but are also doing quite well for themselves and their representatives. Some people will no doubt scoff at the notion. It’s understandable considering the number of businesses that pose as reputable top notch network marketing opportunities.

To give you a better idea of what network marketing is and what it isn’t, let’s look at some of the basics of network marketing. Network marketing isn’t an industry in and of itself. It’s a method of distribution for various products and services.

Network marketing organizations rely on their representatives to promote and sell the company product or service. This saves the company the huge expense of marketing themselves.

Also, because network marketing allows reps to recruit and train their own sales team, they receive a portion of the revenue generated by their sales team.

When most people hear the terms network marketing or multi-level marketing, they tend to immediately think “oh no…! Not another pyramid scheme.” It’s good to have a basic understanding of the fundamental difference between the two.

Point blank, pyramid schemes are illegal. Besides that however, pyramid schemes don’t rely on the sale of a product or service. Instead, these organizations focus heavily on recruiting and provide give little or no value to the new recruit aside for the promise of big bucks.

So, if the business opportunity you’re looking at doesn’t have a clearly defined product or service, or relies heavily on fancy recruiting systems to “do all the work for you”, it’s most likely an just another attempt to dazzle you with lots of hype.

Believe me, I speak from personal experience. “Everything that glitters, ain’t gold.” Use good judgment, and be sure to do the proper background research before you spend your hard earn money on a potential business opportunity.

Network marketing opportunities are a legitimate means to provide some additional income at low cost and limited risk.

Submit classified ads on online job listings advertising for people who want an unlimited opportunity and who want to be their own boss. Tell them to meet at a specified time and place (library conference room etc…) to learn more about this new exciting opportunity in their area and that it is okay to bring friends. Ask them to call first in the ad because space will be limited. When they call you, you can screen candidates or give them the directions for the seminar and ask that they do a little homework before going. Have them bring a list of ten people they believe will be excited about your products. Whether you hire the people that attend the seminar or not, you'll walk away with 10 new leads per attendee. This seems sort of cheesy, but that's how it is done.

I recommend you do a little research with the MLM Search Engine. Being community driven it’s a cross between a search engine and a Wikipedia. You can add, delete and improve the results for much more focused answers than a general search engine can provide. http://www.search-mlm.com

By the way, my own MLM team's training is all handled in the Renegade Network Marketer. http://www.simplyseen.com

Oh boy – you're going to probably get a boatload of people spamming this question with of course – their particular company. I don't sell for any network marketing company so my answer is objective.

I have, however, had marketing mentoring clients who are MLMers and so I've learned a lot about some of them. Additionally, I've spoken about my book in front of Mary Kay, Arbonne, Beauti-control, Pre-paid Legal, World Financial Group and others.

A lot of what's "right for you" is going to depend on you. Do you have an inherent passion for a certain kind of product? For example if you're all about health and fitness there are a ton of companies like USANA or AGEL that will be happy to oblige. If you're into high tech stuff – there are products like HelloWorld you'll be happy to talk about all day long – which you'll do a lot of.

But the big question in my mind is – why MLM?

I swear MLM companies have broken more hearts and dashed more entrepreneurial dreams because you are sometimes dealing with circumstances that are totally out of control and can not only impact the income stream you worked so hard to build but in some instances it can totally eliminate it.

    * They change a product formula and sales plummet. Or it's found that a company is using perscription drugs in a non-perscription product to be competitive and the top brass is carted off to jail. (This happened last year with a company called Neways.)

    * They change the compensation structure and you're left twisting in the breeze because you built your downline a different way and so you're suddenly making much less money.

    * The company doesn't file the required papers with the FTC and they're shut down. The income you've worked so hard to build is GONE.

    * Think going with an established company is better? Companies like AmWay and Mary Kay are so regulated that it's almost impossible to build a business with all their rules and regs.

    * Go with a brand new company and there's a lot of buzz, excitement and entrepreneurial spirit – but not so much trust and credibility.

    * and the list goes on.

Find a product you're passionate about and that people want and have confidence in your ability to do your own thing.

There is no other way to do it successfully than to start out in your warm market. Studies have shown that anyone who is over 21 years old knows over 10,000 people. Surely you have 100 you could speak to. Here's how I did mine. Instead of asking them to buy product, ask them who they know that might need your help. If its a product or service that truly helps people, they won't hesitate to share names with you.

Your warm market is your training ground. They will forgive you if you don't know everything there is to know about your company. Once you've been trained in your warm market, you should be good enough to move on to your cold market. (There's a reason they call it 'cold' market)

The beauty of your network marketing group (if they are any good) is in that they have a system in place for people to be successful. If you are not willing to follow the system, you need to get out. There is a saying in network marketing. "People need to be coachable. If they are not coachable one of two things happens — they quit or they become coachable".

Make sure you are in an organization where your upline is willing to work with you every day. If they are not, quit and find one where this happens, or start calling upline. Call to your first upline National. If they are not available, call your second upline National, as high as it takes to find someone willing to mentor you, and then plant yourself at their feet. If you cannot find anyone willing to work with you on a daily basis, start looking for another company.

I have made it to Senior Regional Sales director with over 100 people under me within 6 months. I've done it by staying in contact with my National every day.

If you're looking for another company, I would be happy to give you my insight into the ones I've been associated with over the years — both good and bad. Email me with your ?'s
